Cinnamon is a wonderful flavoring agent and a beneficial medicine widely used in almost every house. According to observers, it is native to India and later spread to all parts of the world. It has number of species and most commonly Cinnamomum tamale type is used in India. Production wise, Indonesia holds top place followed by China and Vietnam. 
Drawbacks
  • Cinnamon has a special property called coumarin which is harmful for liver when consumed beyond the limit. According to health experts, half teaspoon of cinnamon is enough per a day for an individual.
  • Consuming cinnamon in more quantity also leads to tumors further increasing the risk of cancers.
  • According to some experts pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers are advised to stay away from eating cinnamon as excess intake may leads to some issues.
  • If you are going for any surgery, avoid cinnamon as much as possible. According to health experts it affects the glucose levels and increases the blood pressure. So at least stop consuming before two weeks of surgery.
  • Cinnamon contains cinnamaldehyde compound which has allergic properties. This particular compound if consumed overly can result in mouth sores.
